The 2010/2011 World Series of Poker circuit tour added a new stage in Oklahoma as the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant will host its first-ever World Series of Poker Circuit event from January 6th trough 25th 2011. After the cricket gambling scandal which surrounds the test between England and Pakistan, the Secretary-General of the European Sports Security Association (ESSA) Khalid Ali, offered his views on the problem of match-fixing in sport arguing that sports federations could do more to root out corruption from now on. “Sport’s collective efforts to root out corruption have not been 100 per cent successful”, stated Khalid. “Bookmakers are the biggest losers when it comes to match-fixing. Let’s not forget the only people that can fix a match are the participants themselves. Many sports would still rather bury their head in the sand than come up with a robust-enough code of conduct and rigid enforcement procedures to prevent this”.

Hotel occupancy hit 90 percent in July, up 10.2 %.

New Jersey is preparing to face Hurricane Earl. The storm path has been laid out by meteorologists and the news is not good for New Jersey and the Atlantic City casino gambling industry. Four armed men wearing blacks masks raided a Puerto Rican casino resort for $250,000 on Monday night. The staff of the Gran Melia Golf Resort in San Juan and the customers were held at gunpoint and, after just ten minutes, the four criminals robbers run away with a quarter of a million dollars. One armed robber climbed on a table ordering money to be brought to them, while another one put the money into bags and the other two were keeping guard. A fifth man was reported to be waiting outside in a getaway car.

Caesars Palace pays $250,000 fine for player’s table walk

Caesars Palace has agreed to pay a $250,000 fine for allowing a man to walk and dance on a baccarat table while the game was being played. The fact occurred on October 20th 2009, when a customer who was playing in the high-limit baccarat room on three occasions climbed onto the baccarat table from his chair. On one occasion, the player performed a dance on the table before returning to his chair.

Legal experts on cyber law say that in India connecting to a computer server and playing poker for money from one’s house is not legally clear. Site owners could face prosecution from India but enforcement will be difficult in a foreign jurisdiction.
