New Jersey is preparing to face Hurricane Earl. The storm path has been laid out by meteorologists and the news is not good for New Jersey and the Atlantic City casino gambling industry. If the most popular path is followed, storms are expected to hit New Jersey by Thursday night or Friday morning. Usually it is Florida and the Gulf Coast that has to worry about the worst damage from hurricanes that brew in the Atlantic. Earl, however, is taking a path that could bring storms all the way up the East Coast from North Carolina north.

Four armed men wearing blacks masks raided a Puerto Rican casino resort for $250,000 on Monday night. The staff of the Gran Melia Golf Resort in San Juan and the customers were held at gunpoint and, after just ten minutes, the four criminals robbers run away with a quarter of a million dollars. One armed robber climbed on a table ordering money to be brought to them, while another one put the money into bags and the other two were keeping guard. A fifth man was reported to be waiting outside in a getaway car.

Caesars Palace has agreed to pay a $250,000 fine for allowing a man to walk and dance on a baccarat table while the game was being played. The fact occurred on October 20th 2009, when a customer who was playing in the high-limit baccarat room on three occasions climbed onto the baccarat table from his chair. On one occasion, the player performed a dance on the table before returning to his chair.

In Israel recently begun a campaign to block access to certain gambling websites that were available to all its citizens. Almost every site of online gambling is considered illegal in the country and the Israeli police have been instructing management at the Internet Service Providers to block all access to all offshore online gambling sites, because they "provide a place for illegal gaming for lotteries or gambling, as defined in Section 224 of the Penal Code". Some of the mentioned sites have been aimed at Israeli gamblers, with contents translated into Hebrew.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie proposed creation of a new state authority to take control of safety, traffic, development and marketing for Atlantic City's casino hotel district. It should boost the gaming industry, but it could take much longer to reverse Atlantic City's national reputation as a dirty and crime-plagued gambling haven, observers say.
